Correctly understand boxing glove linings and choose the ones that suit you to enhance your boxing experience.
The lining is part of the boxing glove. It prevents sweat from coming into direct contact with the filling and prevents the filling from abrading the user's hands,
but few people know about it.
Here I will describe it in a simple way.
The polyester fabric has good hydrophobicity, can effectively isolate sweat from the filling, and is basically less likely to get moldy.
Different types of polyester fabrics behave differently. Some feel smooth while others appear rough.
The surface has friction and will cooperate with the hand straps to better fix the boxer's hands in the gloves.
However,
this material is not breathable. Although it prevents sweat from entering the filling, it will increase hand sweat.
Sweat will also soak into the hand straps, and even squeeze out water during the strike, which will make the user very uncomfortable.
The polyester fabric used in some cheap boxing gloves is usually hard and cannot be stretched.
For larger impacts, a crack may open.
A torn lining will allow increased sweat to enter the filling, accelerating the entire glove to become smelly and damaged.
No matter the quality of polyester fabric is good or bad, this type of material is not very skin-friendly and may have a prickly foreign body feel.
Excessive friction may push the handwrap back, causing the handwrap to scatter inside the glove and lose its protection.
Depending on the weave, pure cotton fabric can exhibit good moisture absorption and perspiration properties while maintaining breathability.
However, if it is not used for a long time and is not properly stored, it may become moldy.
Depending on the count of pure cotton fabrics, some will feel smoother and the fabric surface will feel slightly elastic.
However,
for people with abnormally high hand sweat, it is very likely that hand sweat will get into the filling, and the gloves will easily become smelly.
Although it is skin-friendly, the inside of the glove is slippery and sometimes it is difficult to locate the knuckle area.
If the use time is slightly longer, the lining will be easily rubbed and hair balls will appear, which will also make the user uncomfortable and even cause allergies in some people.
Compatible with the advantages and disadvantages of polyester and pure cotton, they have different characteristics depending on the mixing ratio. Generally, the proportion of pure cotton will be higher.
It is less likely to cause hair balls due to friction and less likely to break due to tension.
Although it is not as skin-friendly as pure cotton, the friction is moderate, and the elasticity of the fabric is more layered, which will allow the hand to sink into the lining slightly,
so that the knuckle area will not deviate too much, and fingers didn't cover by handwrap won't get hurt.
Some functional fabrics can wick away sweat more and still maintain a certain degree of breathability,
but the disadvantage is also obvious, that is, they are very expensive.
Because of the above characteristics, wear will be more concentrated in specific areas, and it will be easier to wear out the lining at one point.
Depending on personal usage habits and frequency, the life of gloves might be shorter than other lining gloves.
There are no good or bad materials, only personal preferences and habits.
Polyester fabrics will last the longest if no accidents occur.
Pure cotton fabric provides the most covering and comfort when worn within a certain period of time.
Composite fabric has the advantages and disadvantages of both polyester and pure cotton, making it a more neutral choice.
You can refer to many aspects to make the best choice for you.
